  2024-09-30

The importance of insulin in controlling lipolysis and fat mass is further emphasized by mouse models with alterations in the insulin signaling pathway of adipocytes. For example, mice with a tamoxifen-inducible knockout of the insulin receptor in mature adipocytes reveal a substantial decrease of a

Acknowledgment Introduction Vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC) exhibit the capacity to switch between a differentiated (contractile) and a dedifferentiated (synthetic) phenotype [1]. Synthetic VSMC express a lower amount of contractile proteins such as Smooth muscle 22α (sm22α) and α-Smooth m

Colabeling evidence for ACh and GABA cotransmission Though functional demonstrations of ACh/GABA cotransmission remain largely limited to the retina and our recent analyses of cortex (Lee et al., 2010, Saunders et al., 2015a, Saunders et al., 2015b), evidence suggestive of ACh/GABA cotransmission

AXL is a member of the TAM (Tyro3, Axl, Mer) family of receptor tyrosine kinases (RTKs) [4]. Elevated AXL expression could promote oncogenic processes such as cell growth, migration, invasion, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT), which substantially contribute to tumor progression and poo

Telmisartan Telmisartan is one of the widely used antihypertensive agents, which has demonstrated favorable safety and tolerability profiles, both alone and in combination therapies. It has a number of pharmacological properties that distinguish it from other ARBs—the longest plasma half-life, hi

Some of previous immunohistochemical studies have compared the levels of AR expression in low-grade versus high-grade and/or non-muscle-invasive versus muscle-invasive tumors. There was a significant or marginal decrease (Boorjian et al., 2004, Miyamoto et al., 2012b, Rau et al., 2011, Shyr et al.,

Similarly, results obtained in our lab using experimental diabetic encephalopathy induced by streptozotocin (STZ) in C57BL-6 mice showed that the hippocampus of the diabetic animals exhibited reactive gliosis, neuronal loss, NF-kB signaling activation as well as high levels of IL-1β and vascular end

α2 agonists simulate norepinephrine (NE) in binding to presynaptic surface autoreceptors, which in turn mediates feedback inhibition of NE release. Another major control mechanism for noradrenergic neurotransmission is termination of signaling by presynaptic NE transporter (NET)-mediated NE reuptake

Unlike AK inhibition, the inhibition of ADA activities by EHNA had little effect on spinal reflex potentials, although EHNA did increase extracellular adenosine levels. One explanation for this discrepancy is that the adenosine increase seen herein was not sufficient to inhibit reflex potentials. In
