AR signals and chemosensitivity in urothelial cancer A significant amount of patients with urothelial cancer fail to respond to cisplatin-based systemic chemotherapy, although it remains the mainstay of successful management of advanced disease. However, underlying mechanisms for chemoresistance

  2024-12-17

Although mature fibrils formed from Aβ BTL-104 synthesis have long been thought to be the main neurodegenerative agents in AD, recent evidence suggests that soluble multimers of these pathogenic proteins, referred to here as “oligomers,” may initiate the synaptic and neuronal dysfunction associated

  2024-12-17

Fish aminopeptidases from Alaska Pollack roe and tuna pyloric caeca have been reported on [12,13]. More recently, we described the purification of a leucine aminopeptidase from the skeletal muscle of the common carp [14], red sea bream [15] and a lysine aminopeptidases from Japanese flounder [16]. AHR mediates TCDD toxicity and wasting syndrome TCDD causes numerous toxicities in laboratory animals, including teratogenesis, hepatic steatosis, thymic atrophy, immune dysfunction and a lethal wasting syndrome [17]. The dose-dependent sensitivity to TCDD-induced toxicities varies widely among l

  2024-12-17

Numerous studies have reported high glutamate levels in the brains of patients with depression, indicating that the glutamate system plays a crucial role in depression (Sanacora et al., 2004; Kendell et al., 2005; Hashimoto et al., 2007). Furthermore, several clinically effective antidepressant drug

  2024-12-17

In the vasculature, it is known that A2A and A2B adenosine receptors are stimulatory for adenylyl-cyclase, leading to cyclic-AMP (cAMP) production and vasodilation, while the A1 and A3 adenosine receptors are linked to the inhibitory Gi, suppressing adenylyl-cyclase and favoring contraction. However

  2024-12-17

Introduction Adenosine kinase (ADK; ATP: adenosine 5′-phosphotransferase, EC 2.7.1.20), is isolated from yeast cells by Kornberg for the first time in 1951 [1]. ADK belongs to the ribokinase protein family and is one of the most abundant nucleoside kinases in mammalian tissues [2,3]. As the first i

Comparison of the GLUT1-positive plus ACLY negative group with the GLUT1-negative plus ACLY positive group indicated no significant difference with respect to disease-free survival and overall survival. However, some obvious differences in histological types were found in their formation. A previous

Several mechanisms have been suggested to account for the causal association of ICAM-1 induction and leukocyte adhesion with DR, including oxidative stress [16], NF-κB [17], PKC [18], and bioactive lipids [19]. Our previous studies highlighted the role of bioactive lipid metabolites derived from 12/

  2024-12-16

Regulators of the DDR have therefore become attractive targets for cancer therapy primarily through two potential approaches. First, to be used as chemo- or radiosensitisers to increase the effectiveness of standard genotoxic treatments and to help prevent or overcome the development of resistance.

Acknowledgments Introduction Amyloid deposit formation is defined by the aggregation of β-sheeted forms of proteins that appear as starch-like amorphous material [1], [2]. Using a Kongo red stain, amyloids show birefringence behavior and an apple-green to reddish multicolor emission. Extracere

Similarly, results obtained in our lab using experimental diabetic encephalopathy induced by streptozotocin (STZ) in C57BL-6 mice showed that the hippocampus of the diabetic animals exhibited reactive gliosis, neuronal loss, NF-kB signaling activation as well as high levels of IL-1β and vascular end
